Overview
MAXXI (Museo nazionale delle arti del XXI secolo) is Italy's national museum of contemporary art and architecture, located in the Flaminio district. The building itself, designed by architect Zaha Hadid and opened in 2010, is a work of art with flowing concrete curves, interconnected galleries, and dramatic overhead lighting. The museum hosts rotating exhibitions of contemporary art, architecture, photography, and design.
MAXXI is fully accessible for wheelchair users. All exhibition areas are reached by ramps and dedicated elevators. The museum provides four wheelchairs for visitor use, and admission is free for disabled visitors and their companion.
